What to know about Alberta Holidays in 2027
Alberta has nine general holidays plus optional ones: Easter Monday, Heritage Day (August 2, 2027), the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Boxing Day. Whether you get an optional holiday depends on your employer.
Family Day is Monday, February 15, 2027, and Remembrance Day (Thursday, November 11) is a general holiday in Alberta.
Christmas Day 2027 is a Saturday and Boxing Day a Sunday. Substitute days depend on the jurisdiction's rule and the employee's schedule (federal: working day immediately before or after; ON: substitute day off; BC/AB: entitled to a day off/pay per their rules). No single official 'observed' date is published, so observed is left null and explained.
