Using a school year calendar
A school year calendar runs from August to July instead of January to December, so the whole year fits on one page. Teachers use it to plan units and testing windows; parents mark breaks, early dismissals and conferences once their district publishes its calendar.
Common breaks to add: Thanksgiving (November 25 to 27, 2026 in many districts), winter break (around December 21, 2026 to January 1, 2027) and spring break (usually in March or early April 2027).

It depends on the district: in the South many start around August 10, 2026, in the Northeast after Labor Day (September 7, 2026). Check your district calendar.
