What to know about UK Bank Holidays in 2027
Each of the UK's three jurisdictions has its own bank holidays. England and Wales have eight in 2027, Scotland nine and Northern Ireland ten. Only the shared ones (New Year's Day, Good Friday, the two May bank holidays and Christmas) are the same everywhere.
Scotland adds 2 January (moved to Monday 4 January in 2027) and St Andrew's Day on Tuesday 30 November, and holds its summer bank holiday on the first Monday in August. Northern Ireland adds St Patrick's Day (Wednesday 17 March) and the Battle of the Boyne holiday on Monday 12 July.
Christmas Day 2027 is a Saturday and Boxing Day a Sunday, so the substitute bank holidays are Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December across the UK.
