How to read this list
Most US federal holidays are fixed on Mondays, so they make three-day weekends by design. In 2027 the fixed-date holidays also line up well: New Year's Day is a Friday, July 4 moves to Monday July 5, Christmas moves to Friday December 24 and New Year's Day 2028 to Friday December 31.
Thanksgiving is always a Thursday; taking the Friday off gives four days. Veterans Day (Thursday, November 11) works the same way. Private employers set their own holidays, so check yours.

Yes. July 4 is a Sunday, so the federal day off is Monday, July 5, giving Saturday to Monday.
What about Christmas and New Year 2027?
Christmas Day is a Saturday, so the federal day off is Friday, December 24. New Year's Day 2028 is also a Saturday, so the day off is Friday, December 31. Both give three-day weekends for federal workers.
