The 24/48 schedule
The most common schedule in US fire departments: three platoons (A, B and C) each work a 24-hour shift, then have 48 hours off. Every third day is a duty day, so each platoon works about 122 shifts a year, an average of 56 hours a week.
The month PDF shows which platoon is on duty each day of 2027. The one-page versions show a single platoon's year, with duty days shaded.
Other fire schedules
Some departments use 48/96 (two 24-hour shifts back to back, then four days off), also available in the generator, or add a Kelly day, an extra day off every few weeks to bring hours down. Set your department's pattern and start date in the generator.
Shift calendar generator
Set the first day of the cycle (a day your crew A or platoon A started a block), then pick a crew to highlight. Everything runs in your browser.
Questions and answers
How many hours a week does a 24/48 schedule work out to?
56 hours on average: one 24-hour shift every three days.
Which platoon is on duty today?
That depends on your department's cycle start. Set the date your platoon A worked in the generator and the calendar fills in the rest.
