How the 2-2-3 schedule works
Over a 14-day cycle each crew works 2 days, has 2 off, works 3, has 2 off, works 2 and has 3 off. That is 7 twelve-hour shifts every two weeks: 84 hours, or 42 hours a week on average. Four crews cover a 24-hour operation: two on day shifts, two on nights, each pair taking turns.
The pattern gives every crew every other weekend off as a three-day weekend (Friday to Sunday), which is why it is popular in hospitals, police departments, manufacturing and utilities.
Your year on one page
The PDFs above show one crew per page for all of 2027, with day shifts shaded teal (crews A and B) or night shifts shaded gray (crews C and D). They assume cycle day 1 is Monday, January 4, 2027. If your crew's cycle starts on another day, set it in the generator and download your own version.
Same pattern, different names
The 2-2-3 pattern is also called the Panama schedule, and close variants are known as the Pitman schedule. Employers use the names loosely: some rotate crews between days and nights, others keep them fixed. The generator can do both.
