Passover 2027
Holiday days: Thu, Apr 22 to Thu, Apr 29, 2027; Hebrew date 15-22 Nisan 5787. Ends at nightfall on Thursday, April 29, 2027.
What is Passover?
Passover (Pesach) begins on 15 Nisan and remembers the Exodus from Egypt. In 2027 the first Seder is held at sundown on Wednesday, April 21, 2027. Outside Israel the holiday lasts eight days, to nightfall on Thursday, April 29; in Israel seven days, to April 28.
The first two days (April 22 and 23) and the last two (April 28 and 29) are full festival days when work is avoided. The days in between, Chol HaMoed, are partly festive. Passover 2027 comes almost four weeks after Easter (March 28), because 5787 is a Hebrew leap year with an extra month of Adar.

How it is celebrated
Before the holiday, homes are cleaned of chametz, leavened bread and grain products. On the first evening, and outside Israel on the second too (Thursday, April 22, 2027), families hold a Seder: they read the Haggadah, eat matzah and bitter herbs, drink four cups of wine and ask the Four Questions. Matzah replaces bread for the whole week.
